Room Leader

Newport Fareham Pty Ltd T/A Orchard Montessori is a long-established Early Learning Long Day Care service delivering a Montessori-informed program to children aged three months to six years. We are seeking an experienced, Diploma-qualified Early Childhood Educator to lead one of our rooms at our Maddington centre (12 Ballard Place, Maddington WA 6109).

Key duties

• Preparing materials and equipment for children's educational and recreational activities
• Preparing and conducting play-based and Montessori learning activities for children
• Managing children's behaviour and guiding their social development
• Engaging children through reading, storytelling, songs and games
• Supervising children in indoor and outdoor recreational activities
• Supervising children's daily routines, including meals, rest and transitions
• Supervising children's hygiene, and monitoring their health, safety and wellbeing
• Observing and documenting children's progress, and communicating with families
• Leading and supporting the educators working in the room

Skills and experience required

• Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or higher), or an equivalent qualification recognised by ACECQA
• At least one year of relevant experience in a long day care or early learning setting
• Current Working with Children Check (WA)
• Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standard
• Familiarity with Montessori practice is highly regarded
• Strong communication skills with children, families and colleagues

Employment details
Full-time, 38 hours per week. $80,000 per year plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
