The Gateway Nursery is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated Room Lead / Senior Early Years Practitioner to lead our 2–3-year-old room and support our team in delivering high-quality care, learning and development.

Located in the village of Bartestree, on the eastern side of Hereford, The Gateway Nursery has been established for over 30 years, providing high-quality sessional childcare for children aged 6 months to 4 years. We are an Ofsted-rated *‘*Good’nursery, based in a modern, purpose-built, single-storey building with fantastic outdoor spaces for children to explore, play and learn.

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for giving children the very best start in life and who can lead by example, inspire colleagues and create a nurturing, stimulating environment where every child can flourish.

About the role

As Room Leader / Senior Early Years Practitioner, you will take a key role in leading and supporting the team within our 2–3-year-old room. You will help ensure that our children receive the highest standards of care and education, with engaging experiences that support their curiosity, confidence, independence and development.

You will be passionate about child development, committed to quality practice and confident in supporting colleagues to create a positive, happy and inclusive learning environment.

What we’re looking for

• A recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
• Previous experience working in an early years setting is essential.
• A genuine passion for working with children aged 2–3 years.
• The ability to motivate, support and inspire a team of practitioners.
• Good knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with a positive, proactive approach.
• A commitment to providing high-quality care, learning and development for every child.

Experience leading a room or supervising a team would be an advantage, but we would also welcome applications from an experienced practitioner who is ready to take the next step in their career.
