What they need
We’re a small, locally owned business looking for a really dependable person to take over an established food-truck graywater route in Austin.
The job is pretty straightforward: you’ll drive our company truck to a set group of food trucks and use a pump and hose system to empty their graywater holding tanks.
Just to clarify, this is not sewage or toilet waste. Graywater is the water that goes down the sinks in food trucks from things like washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
This is a physical job, but it’s also very independent. Once you’re trained and comfortable with the route, you’ll mostly be working on your own. If you’re someone who likes putting in headphones, getting your work done, and not having someone standing over you all day, this could be a really good fit.
The route can generally be completed either late at night after businesses close or very early in the morning before they open. Some of the food trucks begin operating around 6:00 AM, so their service has to be completed before then. The upside is that once your route is finished, the rest of your day is yours.
You’ll need to be comfortable driving and backing up a work truck, handling a fairly heavy hose, operating a pump, and working outdoors. Different food trucks have slightly different tank setups, so we’ll train you on how each one works.
What matters most to us is reliability. These businesses are counting on us to show up consistently, and we need someone we can trust to take care of the truck, the equipment, and the route without needing constant supervision.
This position is paid a predetermined rate per completed route rather than hourly. We have established route data and know approximately how long these routes should take when completed safely and efficiently. That means someone who learns the route well, works efficiently, and completes it within the required service window can earn a strong effective hourly rate. You are not penalized for being good at your job and getting it done efficiently.
Typical responsibilities include driving the company truck to scheduled stops, safely operating the pump and hose system, emptying graywater tanks, keeping service areas clean and free of spills, taking care of the truck and equipment, and letting us know promptly if there is ever an issue at a location.
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, responsible, comfortable working independently, physically capable of handling the equipment, confident behind the wheel, and willing to work early mornings or late nights.
A valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required.
This is currently a five-route-day-per-week position. We’ll provide full training on the equipment, route, and individual food-truck setups.
If you’re someone who likes independent work, takes pride in being reliable, and wants a job that can be finished before most people have even started their day, we’d love to hear from you.
