ROVING MERCHANDISER

Position Overview

The Roving Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring that products are properly displayed, adequately stocked, correctly priced, and well-presented across assigned retail stores and outlets. The role requires regular travel between different locations to maintain merchandising standards, monitor inventory, implement promotional activities, and support sales objectives.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, physically fit, and comfortable working independently while visiting multiple stores within an assigned area.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit assigned stores, supermarkets, department stores, and retail outlets according to the scheduled route.
• Ensure products are properly arranged, displayed, and replenished based on company merchandising standards.
• Maintain attractive and organized product displays, shelves, racks, and promotional areas.
• Check product availability and replenish stocks from backroom or designated storage areas.
• Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock or out-of-stock items to the appropriate supervisor.
• Check product expiration dates and ensure proper FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures are followed where applicable.
• Ensure products are correctly labeled and have accurate price tags.
• Install and maintain promotional materials, signage, displays, and point-of-sale materials.
• Implement approved promotional campaigns and ensure promotional displays are properly executed.
• Monitor competitors' product displays, pricing, promotions, and activities and provide relevant reports.
• Check for damaged, defective, expired, or improperly displayed products and coordinate appropriate action.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned product areas.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with store personnel and management.
• Coordinate with store staff regarding product replenishment, displays, promotions, and other merchandising concerns.
• Take photos of displays, shelves, promotional activities, and store conditions as required.
• Submit daily or weekly merchandising reports, including store visits, inventory status, display compliance, and issues encountered.
• Follow the assigned route and visit schedule consistently.
• Ensure all assigned outlets meet company merchandising standards.
• Assist the sales team with product launches, promotions, events, and other activities when required.
• Report competitor activities, customer feedback, and market observations to the supervisor.
• Safeguard company products, promotional materials, equipment, and other assigned resources.
• Perform other merchandising and sales-support duties assigned by management.

Store Visit Responsibilities

During each store visit, the Roving Merchandiser should:

1. Check product availability and stock levels.
2. Replenish products and arrange shelves.
3. Check product facing and visibility.
4. Ensure correct pricing and promotional tags.
5. Check expiration dates and product condition.
6. Clean and organize the assigned display area.
7. Install or maintain promotional materials.
8. Check compliance with agreed merchandising standards.
9. Take required photos and document store conditions.
10. Report stock shortages, damaged products, competitor activities, and other concerns.

Qualifications

• Female applicant.

• High school diploma, vocational qualification, or college-level education preferred.

• Previous experience as a merchandiser, sales associate, retail staff, promoter, or similar position is an advantage.

• Experience in supermarkets, department stores, retail outlets, or FMCG environments is preferred.

• Willing to travel and visit multiple stores or locations daily.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Customer-service oriented and professional in dealing with store personnel.

• Organized and able to manage multiple store visits and priorities.

• Detail-oriented with good observation skills.

• Basic knowledge of smartphones, messaging applications, and photo-taking/reporting applications.

• Able to follow schedules, instructions, and merchandising guidelines.

• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
