What they need

About L.A. Works: L.A. Works unites Angelenos and inspires action to help build a more equitable LA. As the largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused entirely on volunteer action, we create and manage hands-on programs that mobilize volunteers throughout the greater Los Angeles area to address the needs of vulnerable Angelenos. We seek enthusiastic, experienced individuals who share our passion for service and civic pride.

Additionally:

  • Our work matters and has a direct, positive impact on our neighbors.
  • We enjoy a casual but focused office atmosphere (we roll up our sleeves and get to work).
  • We work on a hybrid model, primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings or events.
  • As an organization that specifically serves the Los Angeles community, we prefer to hire candidates who live locally.

About RSVP: AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for adults age 55 and older. Through RSVP, older adults use their time, talents, and experience to make a meaningful difference in their communities. At L.A. Works, we believe the impact of volunteering extends far beyond the hours served. RSVP Volunteers build relationships across generations, share their skills, discover new purpose, and inspire others to serve. The result is a more robust community of nonprofits, healthier and more connected volunteers, and a more engaged Los Angeles.

About the Role: The RSVP Education Program Coordinator will lead the Education programming within L.A. Works' AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program, with primary responsibility for Adult Education/Employment Readiness and K-12 Success.

This position is responsible for the successful implementation, growth, and day-to-day management of RSVP's Education programming, including volunteer recruitment and engagement, nonprofit partnerships, Volunteer Stations, Signature Projects, customized projects, grant deliverables, and program data.

The Education Program Coordinator will work closely with the RSVP Program Director, RSVP staff, Project Leaders, volunteers, nonprofit partners, and internal L.A. Works teams to ensure that Education programming is well organized, impactful, and aligned with AmeriCorps requirements and L.A. Works' mission.

Through strong organization, communication, relationship building, and follow through, this role will help ensure RSVP meets its grant commitments while creating meaningful and positive experiences for older adult volunteers and community partners.

This position also contributes to L.A. Works' long-term goal of reaching 500,000 volunteer service hours annually by 2035.

Program Management

  • Lead for Education RSVP programming by overseeing implementation, grant deliverables, performance goals, and day-to-day execution.
