What they need

Industry: Telecommunications / Mobile Networks
Primary Stack: Rust, Linux, PostgreSQL, Docker, Angular/TypeScript
Additional Technologies: C/C++, SIP, SMPP, Diameter, GTP, HTTP APIs, AI-assisted development

About the Role

VINOC is looking for a strong Rust / Systems Engineer to work directly on the development of our mobile telecommunications core and supporting platforms.

This is not a traditional CRUD or frontend-focused position. You will work on real network infrastructure handling mobile subscribers, signaling, data sessions, voice, SMS, charging, routing, and network integrations.

Our systems include components around 4G/LTE EPC, 5G Core, IMS/VoIP, SMS, Diameter, GTP, SMPP, subscriber management, charging, and network automation.

You do not need to already be a telecom expert. We care more about strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, the ability to understand protocols, and the ability to learn an unfamiliar system quickly.

We are looking for a practical engineer who enjoys building things, debugging difficult problems, reading protocol specifications, analyzing packet captures and logs, and taking ownership of working software.

AI-assisted development is part of our workflow. We expect engineers to be comfortable using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot to increase productivity while still understanding, reviewing, testing, and taking responsibility for the code they produce.

What You’ll Work On

You may contribute to systems such as:

  • Mobile core network components and supporting services for 4G/LTE and 5G
  • High-performance asynchronous network services written in Rust
  • Telecom protocols and integrations including Diameter, GTP, SIP, SMPP, HTTP/REST and WebSockets
  • Subscriber authentication, provisioning and session management
  • Online charging, quotas, policy control and billing integrations
  • SMS and voice infrastructure
  • IMS and VoIP services
  • Network routing and service discovery
  • Internal APIs and microservices
  • PostgreSQL-backed subscriber and network management systems
  • Angular-based internal management portals
  • Monitoring, metrics, logging and troubleshooting tools

You will also investigate real production network problems using Linux tools, logs, packet captures, protocol traces and metrics.

Core Requirements

We care primarily about engineering ability rather than years of experience or specific job titles.

You should have:

  • Strong programming fundamentals and ability to write production-quality code
  • Good experience with Rust, or strong C/C++ experience with demonstrated ability and interest in working primarily in Rust
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Memory and resource management
  • Concurrency and multithreading
  • Asynchronous programming
  • Networking
  • Data structures
  • Performance and debugging
  • Strong Linux knowledge and comfort working from the terminal
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and network programming
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database
  • Git and normal pull-request/code-review workflows
  • Docker/container experience
  • Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar code and technical problems
  • Good written and spoken English

Most importantly, you should be able to understand why something works, rather than only assemble code from libraries, tutorials, or AI-generated suggestions.

Frontend

Frontend is part of the job, but it is not the primary focus.

Experience with the following is useful:

  • Angular
  • TypeScript
  • HTML/CSS
  • REST APIs
  • WebSockets
  • Building practical administration dashboards and internal tools

We are not looking for a UI/UX specialist. We need someone capable of building functional, maintainable interfaces for telecom and network-management systems.

Telecom Experience — Strong Advantage, Not Required

Previous experience with any of the following is highly valuable:

  • LTE/EPC or 5G Core
  • IMS
  • SIP / VoIP
  • Diameter
  • GTPv1/GTPv2
  • SMPP / SMS
  • HSS / UDM
  • MME / AMF
  • SGW / PGW / UPF
  • PCRF / PCF
  • OCS / online charging
  • Mobile roaming
  • WebRTC
  • Wireshark / tcpdump and protocol analysis

We do not expect candidates to know all of these technologies.

A strong systems/network programmer who can learn telecom protocols quickly is absolutely welcome.

Useful Rust Experience

Experience with some of the following is a plus:

Tokio, Axum, Actix Web, SQLx, Serde, Tonic/gRPC, tracing, Cargo

Experience implementing binary network protocols or stateful network servers in Rust is particularly valuable.

AI-Assisted Development

We actively use modern AI development tools.

You should be comfortable using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or GitHub Copilot for:

  • exploring unfamiliar codebases
  • generating boilerplate
  • writing tests
  • refactoring
  • debugging
  • documentation
  • accelerating implementation

However, AI-generated code must still be understood and reviewed. We value engineers who can recognize when generated code is incorrect, insecure, inefficient, or architecturally inappropriate.

Nice to Have

Experience with one or more of:

  • Prometheus / Grafana
  • OpenTelemetry
  • Kafka, NATS or RabbitMQ
  • Kubernetes
  • GitHub Actions / GitLab CI
  • Redis
  • ClickHouse
  • high-throughput or low-latency systems
  • packet capture and network troubleshooting
  • distributed systems

What We Value

We prefer engineers who:

  • are technically curious and learn quickly
  • can debug rather than guess
  • are comfortable reading specifications and documentation
  • understand networking fundamentals
  • can take a problem from investigation to working implementation
  • write simple, understandable code
  • use AI to become more productive rather than as a substitute for understanding
  • are comfortable working independently in a small technical team

Deep telecom experience is not mandatory. Strong systems engineering fundamentals are.
