SaaS Controller / VP Finance

Ascension Search Partners is partnering with a growing SaaS company to identify a Controller / VP of Finance to lead its finance and accounting function. Reporting to the CEO, this is a highly hands-on role for someone who can operate strategically while remaining deeply involved in the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the business.

The ideal candidate will bring experience within SaaS, software, technology, or another recurring-revenue environment and will be comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial organization. This individual will play an important role in cash flow management, recurring revenue, financial planning, and preparing the business for future strategic opportunities.

Primary Duties

• Own the day-to-day accounting and finance function
• Manage cash flow forecasting and proactively oversee collections
• Oversee recurring revenue recognition and contract-based revenue
• Maintain accurate financial records and accounting processes
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial projections
• Monitor SaaS metrics, including ARR and churn
• Create financial reporting and dashboards for leadership and investors
• Support banking, investor, and cash flow reporting requirements
• Assist with transaction readiness, including due diligence and data room preparation
• Partner closely with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives
• Balance strategic finance responsibilities with hands-on accounting execution
• Provide oversight of payroll and other administrative finance functions as needed

Educational/Experience Level

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred
• Experience in SaaS, software, technology, or another recurring-revenue business model
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition and recurring revenue
• Demonstrated experience with cash flow forecasting, cash management, and collections
• Ability and willingness to perform hands-on accounting work in a lean environment
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Experience with ARR, churn, and other SaaS financial metrics preferred
• QuickBooks experience is a plus
• M&A, due diligence, or transaction-readiness experience is a plus
• Investor reporting and dashboard experience is beneficial
• CPA preferred but not required
• Comfortable operating independently with limited accounting support
