What they need

About the role

Every woman and child deserves to feel safe in their own home.

As a Safe at Home Case Worker, you'll play a critical role in helping women and children experiencing family and domestic violence reclaim their safety, confidence and independence. Working alongside victim-survivors at some of the most challenging times in their lives, you'll provide specialist risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and case management that empowers families to remain safely in their homes wherever possible.

This is more than a case management role. It's an opportunity to walk alongside women as they rebuild their lives, strengthen their support networks and navigate complex systems with dignity and confidence. As part of our dedicated Outreach Team, you'll deliver flexible, community-based support that puts the client's goals, strengths and choices at the centre of every intervention.

No two days are the same. You'll work collaboratively with housing providers, police, legal services, health professionals and community organisations to coordinate practical solutions, reduce risk and create lasting pathways to safety and recovery. You'll have the autonomy to apply your professional judgement, respond to complex situations and make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and children every day.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive FDV risk assessments and develop tailored safety plans
  • Provide trauma and FDV-informed case management and support for women and families experiencing FDV
  • Build trusting relationships that empower clients to achieve their goals and make informed decisions
  • Advocate for clients' safety, rights and access to services across housing, legal, financial, health and community sectors
  • Respond proactively to high-risk and crisis situations, ensuring timely and coordinated support
  • Work collaboratively with specialist FDV services and key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
  • Facilitate access to home security upgrades and other initiatives that enhance safety
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and professional case records and reports
  • Contribute to a collaborative, values-driven team committed to continuous improvement and best practice

About you

You're passionate about supporting women and children to live free from violence and believe in the power of compassionate, strengths-based practice.

You bring a combination of professional expertise, sound judgement and genuine empathy. You're comfortable working in complex environments, building trusted relationships and advocating for people whose voices may not always be heard. Most importantly, you're motivated by the opportunity to create safer futures and lasting change.

You'll bring:

  • A degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Human Services or a related discipline
  • Experience supporting victim-survivors of family and domestic violence and trauma
  • Skills in risk assessment, safety planning, crisis intervention and case management
  • A strong understanding of the issues impacting women and children, including FDV, homelessness, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, poverty and trauma
  • Experience applying trauma-informed, strengths-based and client-centred practice
  • Strong advocacy, stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • A current Driver's Licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
