What they need

Are you passionate about partnering with leaders to create safer workplaces and drive meaningful safety outcomes?

We have an exciting opportunity to join Godfrey Hirst as a Safety Advisor based at our manufacturing site in South Geelong, where you will play an important role in supporting a strong, practical and proactive safety culture across our operations.

About Godfrey Hirst

At Godfrey Hirst, we are proud to draw on more than 160 years of manufacturing experience across Australia and New Zealand. We are committed to designing, creating and supplying high-quality, beautiful and sustainable floor coverings for homes and businesses.

Our manufacturing teams are at the heart of what we do, and safety is central to ensuring our people go home safe every day.

About the Role

Reporting to the OHS Manager, you will provide practical and professional OHS advice and support across the site, partnering with managers, supervisors and employees to strengthen safe work practices, support compliance and help drive a positive safety culture.

You will play a key role in coaching leaders, supporting incident investigations, identifying and managing workplace risks, monitoring safety performance and contributing to the ongoing improvement of our OHS systems, processes and initiatives in line with our Zero Harm cultural change program.

Due to the operational and hands-on nature of the position, this is an on-site role with no work-from-home flexibility.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be involved in a broad range of OHS advisory, operational and continuous improvement activities, including:

Workplace Health & Safety

  • Providing practical OHS advice, guidance and coaching to managers, supervisors and employees.
  • Supporting the implementation, review and continuous improvement of OHS policies, procedures, systems and safe work practices.
  • Partnering with leaders to identify hazards, assess risks and implement effective controls.
  • Supporting and coaching managers and supervisors with incident reporting, investigations and corrective action management through Rapid Global.
  • Monitoring corrective actions to ensure timely completion, visibility and accountability.
  • Conducting and supporting workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance activities.
  • Supporting the delivery of safety initiatives, toolbox talks, inductions, training and awareness activities.
  • Analysing safety data, trends and reporting to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting the site to meet legislative, business and OHS system requirements.
  • Contributing to the development of a proactive safety culture aligned to the Zero Harm cultural change program.

Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintaining accurate OHS records, registers, dashboards and reporting requirements.
  • Using systems such as Rapid Global, Chemwatch, Power BI and Microsoft Office to monitor and report on safety performance.
  • Preparing reports, documentation and updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting internal and external audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve safety processes, reduce risk and strengthen operational safety practices.
  • Working collaboratively with the OHS Manager and broader operational teams to support site safety priorities.

About You

You will ideally be an experienced safety professional who enjoys working closely with operations and influencing safety outcomes in a practical, hands-on environment.

You will bring:

  • A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety as a minimum.
  • Previous experience in a WHS, OHS or safety advisory role, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, warehousing or operational environments.
  • A sound understanding of WHS/OHS legislation, risk management principles and safety management systems.
  • Experience supporting incident investigations, hazard identification, risk assessments and corrective action management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to coach, influence and build relationships across all levels of the business.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to balance compliance requirements with operational needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with safety data, reporting and documentation.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Most importantly, you will be someone who enjoys being visible on site, engaging with people and helping create a workplace where safety is understood, valued and lived every day.

Ready to Apply?

If you enjoy being visible on site, building strong relationships, coaching others and helping make safety simple, practical and embedded in everyday work, this could be a great next step in your WHS career.

Other offers great for you!
