Safety Coordinator

WA Universal is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Coordinator to support the ongoing delivery and continuous improvement of our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) systems across our construction, crane hire, rigging and transport operations.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely alongside our Operations, Projects, Workshop and Fleet Managers, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace while supporting operational teams across multiple projects and sites.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working with people, being present in the field, and driving practical safety outcomes while maintaining compliance with industry standards and legislative requirements.

About the role

Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's HSEQ systems and processes. Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems across construction, crane hire and transport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, audits, workplace observations and compliance reviews across construction, crane hire and transport operations
• Coordinate incident investigations, corrective actions and safety reporting
• Prepare and review SWMS, JSA's, risk assessments and other safety documentation
• Assist with maintaining training records, competency matrices, VOCs and employee inductions
• Support managers and supervisors with practical safety advice and compliance requirements
• Monitor plant, equipment, crane and rigging certifications, inspections and compliance documentation
• Assist in the coordination of internal and external ISO audits and accreditation requirements
• Maintain HSEQ documentation, registers and electronic record management systems
• Coordinate contractor onboarding, compliance and prequalification requirements
• Conduct site visits to promote safe work practices and positive safety behaviours

About you

• Experience in a Safety Coordinator, HSEQ Coordinator or similar role within construction, crane hire, transport, mining, civil or heavy industry
• Sound understanding of Australian WHS legislation and industry best practices
• Experience working with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
• Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors and operational personnel
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems
• Relevant safety qualifications and a current driver's licence
