This role combines safety leadership with direct responsibility for work-related injuries, workers’ compensation claims, and return-to-work coordination. Working closely with employees, supervisors, Operations, Maintenance, Human Resources, insurance carriers, and medical providers, you will identify hazards, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working on the production floor, building relationships, solving problems, and turning safety requirements into practical solutions that protect employees and support efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Workplace Safety and OSHA Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety programs in accordance with OSHA General Industry standards and applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify hazards and evaluate machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices.
- Investigate workplace injuries, near misses, and other incidents to determine root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Monitor incident trends and safety performance, recommending improvements to prevent injuries and reduce risk.
- Maintain current safety policies, procedures, training records, OSHA logs, and required documentation.
Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management
- Manage work-related injuries and workers’ compensation claims from initial reporting through resolution.
- Coordinate communication among injured employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, claims adjusters, and medical providers.
- Ensure timely injury reporting, claim submissions, documentation, and follow-up.
- Coordinate medical appointments, track work restrictions, and maintain appropriate communication throughout recovery.
- Develop return-to-work and transitional duty plans that accommodate medical restrictions and support a safe return to work.
- Monitor claim status, lost-time cases, medical updates, and claim costs to identify opportunities for improved outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, confidential injury records and workers’ compensation files.
- Report significant claim developments and injury trends to management and recommend preventive measures.
Employee Training and Safety Culture
- Deliver new-hire safety orientations, ongoing training, and job-specific safety instruction.
- Coach supervisors and managers on hazard recognition, safety responsibilities, injury reporting, and incident prevention.
- Lead or facilitate safety committee meetings and maintain effective safety communication tools.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and support workplace incident response.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Human Resources, and department leaders to integrate safe work practices into daily production.
- Encourage employee participation in hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and continuous safety improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing safety, occupational safety, workers’ compensation, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and manufacturing safety practices, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE.
- Experience managing workplace injuries, workers’ compensation claims, incident investigations, and return-to-work coordination.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, handle confidential employee and medical information, and work effectively with employees and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training or willingness to obtain it.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional or volunteer first responder experience.
Work Environment
