About the role

SOON SIN CONTRACTS PTE LTD is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team on a full-time basis in the North Region. This role is crucial to our operations, as you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining our health, safety and environmental standards across all construction projects. The Safety Coordinator plays a vital part in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and fostering a strong safety culture throughout our organisation. This position is based on-site in the North Region and will require regular site visits and inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Conducting regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Developing, implementing and updating health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures specific to project requirements
• Providing safety induction and training programmes to all site personnel, including workers, supervisors and management
• Investigating workplace incidents, accidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions
• Maintaining detailed safety records, documentation and reports for regulatory compliance and internal tracking
• Liaising with external authorities, including regulatory bodies and third-party safety consultants, as required
• Monitoring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring adequate stock levels and compliance
• Participating in toolbox talks, safety meetings and site briefings to reinforce safety awareness
• Assisting in the development of risk assessments and method statements for high-risk activities
• Promoting a positive safety culture and encouraging reporting of safety concerns without fear of reprisal

What we're looking for

• A recognised Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or equivalent certification relevant to construction
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience working as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar health and safety role within the Landscape /construction industry
• Strong knowledge of construction site hazards, risk management and relevant safety regulations and standards
• Proficiency in conducting safety audits, inspections and hazard assessments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with workers at all levels
• Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management software
• Ability to work independently and take initiative whilst contributing collaboratively to team objectives
• A proactive approach to identifying potential safety issues and implementing preventive measures
• Current First Aid or CPR certification (desirable but not essential)
• Valid Class 3 driving licence for site visits and inspections
