Safety Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Senior Drafter ready to grow into a Project Manager role. This position suits a professional with strong expertise in temporary construction equipment and deep familiarity with NYC building codes and regulations — particularly Chapter 33 of the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Code.

The ideal candidate has hands-on drafting experience with supported scaffolding, sidewalk sheds, personnel hoists, overhead and roof protection, site safety plans, and other temporary structures, and can ensure compliance with safety standards and permit requirements at every project phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of drafters, ensuring accurate, high-quality technical drawings
• Review and approve drawings for code compliance, accuracy, and project alignment
• Conduct site visits to gather field measurements and assess installation conditions
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and internal teams to drive project execution
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, meeting deadlines, budgets, and deliverables
• Serve as primary client point of contact, providing clear technical updates
• Mark up equipment sketches for as-built documentation per DOB requirements
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business development

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional AutoCAD 2D experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field (preferred)
• Proven expertise in NYC DOB Code Chapter 33
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
• Strong professional communication skills
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Experience leading client meetings and managing ongoing relationships
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Strong time management and prioritization skills

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
