Safety Engineer

System Improvement

• Graduate of any of the following Engineering courses: ChE, Envi & Sanitary Eng’g, ME
• With min. of 2 years’ experience in Manufacturing industry with exposure to chemical management. Having a training related to Occupational Safety and Health. Training in Loss Control Management, Fire Brigade or Chemical Safety, PCO is advantage.
• Proficiency in MS office, knowledge in advance excel is advantage. With engineering skills on problem solving and analysis. Ability to explain problems simply and clearly. Knowledge in ESH regulations, Chemical safety, Risk Assessment and Accident Investigation.
• Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with different departments. Can work under minimal supervision. Ability to keep track multiple task and responsibilities.

Key job functions of a Safety Engineer (Sustaining) include:

1. Sustaining & Operational Support

• Engineering Change Management: Evaluating the safety impact of modifications to existing processes, machinery, or materials.
• Product/Process Maintenance: Monitoring active manufacturing operations to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient performance.
• Troubleshooting & Resolution: Investigating and resolving ongoing operational issues, including handling customer escalations related to product safety.
• Tooling & Equipment Validation: Evaluating and specifying safety requirements for new or repaired machinery.

2. Risk Management & Hazard Identification

• Risk Assessments: Performing routine risk analyses (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP) on operational processes to identify potential hazards.
• Inspections & Audits: Conducting regular workplace inspections and audits of equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Ergonomic Assessments: Evaluating workplace setups to improve employee well-being.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

• Regulatory Monitoring: Ensuring adherence to OSHA, ISO 45001, and other local, state, or federal environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
• Documentation Maintenance: Updating safety procedures, operating instructions, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Record Keeping: Maintaining safety records for audit and legal compliance.

4. Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions

• Root Cause Analysis: Investigating accidents, near-misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Safety Improvement: Recommending and implementing modifications to reduce safety risks and costs.
• Incident Reporting: Preparing detailed reports on incidents for management.

5. Training & Safety Culture

• Employee Training: Training personnel on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Safety Promotion: Raising awareness of good safety practices to foster a "zero-injury" culture.

6. Collaboration & Communication

• Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborating with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Management teams to integrate safety into daily operations.
• External Liaison: Communicating with regulatory authorities during inspections.
