Safety Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join Gitamondoc-Gopaoco Construction Corporation at our Subabasbas location in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in protecting our workforce and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all our construction operations. The Safety Manager will be instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organisation and ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of occupational health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures across all construction sites
• Conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures
• Managing safety training programmes and inductions for all personnel to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
• Investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses, documenting findings, and implementing preventative actions
• Liaising with regulatory authorities and maintaining compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation
• Monitoring and maintaining safety records, statistics, and reporting mechanisms to track safety performance
• Leading safety committees and coordinating with site managers to promote a positive safety culture
• Preparing and delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks to construction teams
• Managing personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory and ensuring proper usage across all sites
• Conducting risk assessments for new projects and advising on appropriate control measures

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Safety Manager or in a similar health, safety, and environmental role within the construction industry, preferably 5+ years
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to construction
• Relevant certification such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), or equivalent professional qualification
• Demonstrated ability to conduct hazard assessments, risk analysis, and develop control strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff
• Proficiency in safety management systems, incident reporting, and data analysis
• Strong knowledge of construction site operations and hazards specific to the construction industry
• Ability to work independently and take initiative whilst collaborating effectively with project teams
