Build trust. Strengthen our teams. Make a lasting impact on safety.
Gallagher Asphalt is seeking a Safety Manager who can connect with people, understand our operations and help our teams work safely every day.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who enjoys being in the field and working alongside employees and leaders. You’ll get to know our people, equipment and processes, then use that knowledge to identify risks, strengthen training and drive meaningful improvements.
As a 4 th generation family-owned and operated company, our mission is Moving Families Forward . Protecting the people who make our work possible is central to that mission.
Your impact
Reporting to the President, you’ll partner with operations leaders across the company. Your work will span construction sites, asphalt plants, trucking operations, equipment shops, laboratories and offices.
You will:
- Build strong working relationships. Maintain a regular presence across our operations, earn employees’ trust and understand the challenges each team faces.
- Learn the work and assess the risks. Get familiar with how our teams operate, the equipment they use and the conditions they encounter. Help leaders anticipate hazards and incorporate safety into planning and daily decisions.
- Develop training that meets real needs. Partner with leaders to identify skill and knowledge gaps. Lead or coordinate practical instruction, orientations, toolbox talks and refresher training that employees can apply on the job.
- Coach and support our leaders. Help managers and supervisors communicate expectations, address concerns and follow through on improvements.
- Strengthen safety programs and compliance. Keep programs, inspections, training records and required documentation current and relevant to our operations.
- Lead incident investigations and prevention efforts. Identify contributing factors, coordinate corrective actions and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
What you bring
You know that credibility comes from understanding the work, respecting people’s experience and doing what you say you’ll do. You’re approachable, observant and comfortable addressing difficult issues. You can translate technical requirements into clear guidance and help people put that guidance into practice.
We’re looking for:
- Five or more years of safety experience in construction or a related industrial environment. Experience in heavy highway construction, asphalt, trucking or equipment maintenance is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience delivering training, assessing hazards, conducting investigations and implementing safety improvements.
- Strong communication, organization and follow-through.
- Proficiency with technology and the ability to learn systems for training, inspections, reporting and recordkeeping.
- A valid driver’s license.
- OSHA 30 and CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain them quickly. CHST or CSP certification is preferred.

You’ll help develop our workforce, improve how work gets done and support a company guided by our values; Leadership, Teamwork, Discipline and Innovation.
This position includes frequent visits to active operations, regular travel among locations and outdoor work. Schedule flexibility is needed for early starts, evenings, weekends and incident response as operations require.
