Duration: About 9 months of preconstruction services, with a possible construction-phase extension

About the role

QMS is looking for an experienced Safety Manager (Level II) to support preconstruction services for the building addition at a laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The building addition involves multiple disciplines and takes place in a Department of Energy (DOE) laboratory environment. You'll bring safety expertise into the design process early and help shape a safe, buildable project before construction starts.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the 30%, 60%, and 90% design reviews and provide safety input at each milestone
• Identify likely construction hazards and recommend ways to reduce or eliminate them during design
• Review designs for constructability and evaluate construction sequencing for safety risks
• Develop safety planning for the project, in line with DOE laboratory requirements
• Work with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders across disciplines
• Check that design and planning documents follow OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and ICC requirements

Requirements (Level II)

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution
• Completed courses or training in NFPA, NEC, ICC, and OSHA regulations
• Current on continuing education requirements for the applicable jurisdiction
• At least 10 years of full-time experience as a Safety Manager

Preferred qualifications

• Experience on DOE, national laboratory, or other federal projects
• Experience with preconstruction, design review, or constructability review
• Background on multidisciplinary commercial or institutional building projects
