Safety Officer

A Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. The role involves identifying workplace hazards, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and company regulations.
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare reports.
• Organize safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper compliance.
• Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Coordinate emergency response plans and first aid procedures.
• Advise management on safety improvements and regulatory updates.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is an advantage.
• Experience in a similar safety role is preferred.
