Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the appointed Safety & Health Officer (SHO) in compliance with OSHA 1994 and DOSH/JKKP requirements .
• Develop and maintain EHS Management Systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001) , including SOPs, policies, HIRARC, JSA, and risk assessments .
• Lead Occupational Safety & Health Committee (OSHC) meetings and ensure timely action tracking.
• Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programs.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses ; perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA .
• Ensure compliance with Factory & Machinery Act (FMA) , including boilers, pressure vessels , and DOSH inspections.
• Manage environmental compliance : scheduled waste, DOE requirements, industrial effluent, emissions, and noise monitoring .
• Oversee chemical safety ( CLASS Regulations, CHRA, SDS management ).
• Plan and deliver EHS training (induction, LOTO, confined space, working at height, hot work, emergency response).
• Manage Emergency Response Plans (ERP) , drills, and coordination with BOMBA, DOE, DOSH, MOH .
• Liaise with regulatory authorities for audits, inspections, and compliance submissions.
• Manage contractor safety programs including permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
• Track and report EHS KPIs (LTI, TRIR, audit closure, training hours).
• Drive continuous improvement and safety culture initiatives.

Requirement

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related fiel d
• Mandatory : Registered SHO with DOSH (Green Book ) and NIOSH certificatio n
• Minimum 5 years of EHS experienc e in manufacturing (FMCG / food / process industry preferred)
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1994, FMA, Environmental Quality Act, CLASS Regulation s, and scheduled waste managemen t
• Familiar with boiler and wastewater compliance (DOSH & DOE requirements )

• NEBO SH , ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
• CHRA, Scheduled Waste Competent Person
• First Aider / Emergency Response Team (ERT)
