Safety Officer - Electrical Engineering

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Safety Officer to strengthen workplace safety, legal compliance, and risk management across our operations, projects, and client sites. The successful candidate will support a safe working environment in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and applicable regulations.

Purpose of the Role

The Safety Officer will implement, monitor, and continuously improve the company’s Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) systems. The role includes site inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, safety training, contractor safety management, and accurate safety documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain company health and safety policies, procedures, and safe-work practices.
• Conduct routine workplace and site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-conformances.
• Perform and maintain risk assessments, hazard identification exercises, and risk registers.
• Develop and monitor site-specific safety plans, method statements, and safe work procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, Construction Regulations, and applicable client, industry, and statutory requirements.
• Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Prepare SHEQ reports, statistics, KPIs, audit findings, and management presentations.
• Liaise with clients, principal contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies on safety matters.
• Support continual improvement of the company’s safety culture and operational risk controls.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.careers24+1
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Safety Officer, SHEQ Officer, or HSE representative in construction, electrical, engineering, energy, industrial, or technical-services environments.
• Sound knowledge of South African OHS legislation, including the OHS Act and relevant regulations.labour
• Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, safety files, audits, and toolbox talks.
• Strong report-writing, record-keeping, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Clear criminal record and ability to work under pressure.

Pay: R19 000,00 per month
