Safety Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Construction Safety Technician to support our construction operations and help maintain a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. The Safety Technician will work closely with supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and project management to identify hazards, promote safe work practices, conduct inspections, and support compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in the field, communicating with construction personnel, documenting safety activities, and addressing potential hazards before they result in incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and document findings.
• Identify unsafe conditions, practices, and potential hazards.
• Assist with implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct and/or assist with toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee orientations.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and applicable company requirements.
• Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Safe Work Permits.
• Support implementation of fall protection, confined space, hot work, lockout/tagout, excavation, and other safety programs.
• Verify proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist supervisors with incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting.
• Participate in accident and incident investigations and help identify corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, and other required paperwork.
• Communicate safety concerns to supervisors and project management.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Promote a positive safety culture among employees and subcontractors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous construction, industrial, or safety experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements.
• Ability to recognize workplace hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar software.
• Ability to work outdoors and walk/stand on active construction sites.
• Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with site-specific safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• OSHA 510 or other recognized safety training.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Experience working in industrial, petrochemical, manufacturing, or heavy construction environments.
• Experience with safety inspections, JHAs/JSAs, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.
• Familiarity with contractor safety programs and permit-to-work systems.

Physical Requirements

The position requires frequent walking and standing on active construction sites. The employee may be required to climb stairs/ladders, work around construction equipment and elevated work areas, and work in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE.

Work Location: In person
