POSITION SUMMARY

Stuart Steel Protection, LLC (SSP) is the largest manufacturer of galvanic anodes in the United States and a master distributor of leading corrosion control brands. Since 1952, SSP has made the products that protect buried, submerged, and storage steel from corrosion. Today SSP serves customers in all 50 states from locations in Houston, TX; Tulsa, OK; Somerset, NJ; Hiram, GA; and Grand Junction, CO.

The Outside Sales Representative grows SSP revenue in an assigned territory. The rep owns a book of accounts, develops new business, and is the customer's main SSP contact for cathodic protection (CP) and corrosion control materials, including magnesium, zinc, and aluminum anodes, test stations, and related CP products. Customers include gas and electric utilities, pipeline and energy operators, municipalities and water utilities, CP contractors and engineering firms, and distribution partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Account and Territory Ownership

· Serve as the responsible account rep (RA) for an assigned territory and book of accounts, and grow revenue, units, and order frequency year over year.

· Build and carry out plans for assigned Target Growth Accounts (TGAs), including end-user utilities and operators served through distributors.

· Prospect, qualify, and open new accounts, and keep an active pipeline of opportunities.

Customer and Distributor Relationships

· Call on utility, pipeline, contractor, and engineering customers in person, by phone, and virtually. Learn their CP requirements, specifications, and buying processes (for example, blanket POs, approved-vendor lists, and releases).

· Work with distributor branches and their sales staff on joint calls, product training, and stocking and release programs to pull SSP product through the channel.

· Plan and support customer and distributor events such as open houses, lunch-and-learns, and product demonstrations.

Quoting and Order Support

· Prepare quotes and follow up on them quickly. Negotiate within approved pricing guidelines and turn quotes into orders.

· Work with inside sales, customer service, operations, and logistics on lead times, freight, product specifications, compliance documents (for example, Build America, Buy America certifications), and order issues through delivery.

Industry Presence

· Represent SSP at trade shows, conferences, and association events (for example, AMPP national and regional conferences and American Gas Association events), and staff the SSP booth as assigned.

· Stay current on CP products, applications, competitors, and market conditions, and share customer feedback and market intelligence with the team.

Reporting and Activity Tracking

· Record customer contacts, conversation notes, opportunities, and next steps in SSP's CRM and account records [confirm system], and enter quotes in Acumatica (ERP).

· Review weekly Sales Update reports (revenue, adjusted units, invoices, quotes, and quote conversion compared with prior years) and act on accounts that are declining.

· Give sales leadership regular activity and forecast updates, and take part in sales meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

· [3–5]+ years of outside B2B sales experience, preferably selling industrial, utility, pipeline, or electrical products.

· A track record of prospecting, opening new accounts, and meeting or beating sales goals.

· Experience managing a territory that includes both end-user and distributor accounts.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) and a CRM.

· Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to travel locally, including overnight.

· [High school diploma or equivalent].

Preferred

· Experience in cathodic protection, corrosion control, gas or electric utility, pipeline, or water/wastewater markets.

· AMPP (formerly NACE) CP certification, such as CP1 – Cathodic Protection Tester, or willingness to earn it.

· Existing relationships with utilities, CP contractors, or utility/electrical distributors in [territory].

· Experience quoting and entering orders in an ERP system (Acumatica or similar).

· Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

· Consultative, relationship-based selling. Able to learn technical products and explain them to engineers, field crews, and purchasing staff.

· Self-directed, organized, and accountable. Able to manage time across a large territory with little supervision.

· Clear written and spoken communication, with prompt and reliable follow-up.

· Negotiation skills and working business math (pricing, margin, and freight).

· Works well with operations, inside sales, and leadership.

TRAVEL

Local travel within the assigned territory, including overnight stays. Periodic travel to SSP facilities, trade shows, conferences, and customer events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

· Work takes place in a home office or SSP office, at customer and distributor sites, and at trade shows.

· Frequent driving. Occasional visits to manufacturing plants, warehouses, and field or job sites, which may involve outdoor conditions, uneven ground, and required PPE.

· Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (product samples and trade show materials), and to stand and walk for long periods at trade shows and events.
