What they need

Brief Description Do you love agriculture, thrive on building relationships, and want a career where your expertise directly helps growers succeed? The DeLong Co. is looking for a driven Sales Agronomist to join our team — someone who combines sharp agronomic knowledge with a genuine passion for helping growers improve their operations and profitability. WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS ROLE

  • Make a real impact — your recommendations directly affect growers' yields and bottom lines
  • Represent industry-leading products including Pioneer brand corn, soybeans, and wheat
  • Enjoy the independence of managing your own territory with the support of an experienced team
  • Clear career path to Agronomy Location Manager, Seed Location Manager, or Operations Manager
  • Work with cutting-edge agronomy tools including Pioneer's Granular program and variable rate technology

What You'll Do As a Sales Agronomist, you'll be the face of The DeLong Co. for your grower customers — building trusted relationships, understanding their unique needs, and delivering solutions that work. Day to day, you will:

  • Grow and manage a book of business across fertilizer, chemical, application services, and seed products — while actively prospecting new grower relationships
  • Scout fields, collect as-applied and yield data, and develop tailored hybrid placement and variable rate seeding recommendations
  • Prepare and manage sales proposals, bookings, invoices, and contracts efficiently using Agvance, Connex, and other platforms
  • Maintain detailed, up-to-date field and farm maps to support both growers and internal teams
  • Coordinate product deliveries and application scheduling for your customer base
  • Serve as a trusted resource for growers — addressing questions, resolving concerns quickly, and keeping them informed
  • Collaborate with the Agronomy and Seed Division Managers to set and achieve annual sales goals

Requirements WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required

  • Strong agricultural and seed product knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills — comfortable in person, on the phone, by text, and email
  • Willingness to put in extra hours during peak seasons
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance
  • Ability (or willingness) to obtain a Class A CDL and Commercial Applicator's License within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied outdoor conditions

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field
  • Prior sales or agronomic consulting experience
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and ag-specific platforms
