Sales Agronomist

About the role

Huat Lai Resources Berhad is seeking a Sales Agronomist to join our team in Melaka. The role combines technical agronomy, customer management and business development to support the growth of our fertiliser and agricultural products business.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct farm, plantation and customer site visits to assess crop conditions, soil health and agricultural requirements.
• Provide practical agronomic advice on soil improvement, crop nutrition, fertiliser application and crop management.
• Coordinate soil, leaf, fertiliser and other relevant sampling and laboratory testing, interpret results and provide recommendations.
• Prepare site visit, technical analysis, customer and sales reports, including presentations and proposals where required.
• Manage and support existing customers, including fertiliser and poultry manure/chicken droppings customers, and address their technical and commercial requirements.
• Identify and develop new customers and sales opportunities for fertilisers, poultry manure and other agricultural products and solutions.
• Coordinate poultry manure customer requirements, including orders, availability, collection and delivery arrangements.
• Participate in agricultural exhibitions, expos, field days and industry events to promote products and develop new business opportunities.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of ISO, SIRIM and other certification requirements, including documentation, product testing, audits and compliance matters.
• Monitor market developments, customer feedback and competitors, and provide relevant recommendations to Management.
• Work closely with internal departments to ensure effective customer service, product support and timely follow-up.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in agronomy, fertiliser, plantation, crop production or agricultural inputs is preferred.
• Good knowledge of soil fertility, plant nutrition, fertiliser application and crop management.
• Ability to interpret soil, plant and fertiliser analysis results and provide practical recommendations.
• Experience with ISO, SIRIM, product certification or quality documentation will be an advantage.
• Strong communication, presentation, customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Commercially minded with an interest in sales and business development.
• Able to work independently and comfortable with regular field and customer visits.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin or other local languages will be an advantage.
• Possess a valid driving licence and be willing to travel as required.
