Sales Assistant

Job Overview

Duties

• Assist customers with product selections, answer questions, and provide detailed product demonstrations to enhance their shopping experience
• Operate the point of sale (POS) system accurately for transactions, including cash handling and processing payments
• Stock shelves, merchandise displays, and ensure the store is organized and visually appealing through effective merchandising
• Conduct regular stock checks and assist with inventory management to keep the store well-stocked and organized
• Upsell products by identifying customer needs and recommending complementary items to increase sales
• Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely
• Supervise junior team members when needed, providing guidance on customer service and sales techniques

Skills

• Proven experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures in a retail or grocery store setting
• Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities to serve diverse customer bases effectively
• Demonstrated ability to conduct product demos confidently and persuasively
• Supervising experience is a plus, with the ability to lead by example and motivate team members
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
• Knowledge of retail math for accurate cash register operations and inventory management
• Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for transactions and stock counts
• Familiarity with grocery store operations, including stocking, merchandising, and cashiering tasks
• Strong phone etiquette for professional remote communication during customer inquiries or internal coordination

Pay: $17.28 - $20.21 per hour
