Sales Assistant

About the Role
This is more than a traditional retail assistant position.

As a Sales Assistant with Carpet Court Pukekohe, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Sales Consultants while ensuring every customer receives outstanding service from the moment they walk through the door.

You’ll be the first point of contact for many customers, helping them feel welcome, understanding what they need, and supporting them throughout their purchasing journey. You’ll also assist with administration, quotations, product ordering, showroom presentation and day-to-day store operations.
This is a varied role that combines customer service, sales support and administration in a busy, people-focused environment.

This is a 6-month fixed-term, part-time position working Monday to Friday.

Ideally, the hours will be 9:00am–2:30pm, however we can offer some flexibility around start and finish times for the right person. There may also be the occasional opportunity for weekend work where required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and create a positive first impression
• Support customers with product enquiries and selections
• Assist Sales Consultants throughout the sales process
• Process sales transactions and maintain accurate records
• Assist with quotations, product ordering and customer follow-up
• Book measures and support customer appointments
• Answer phone enquiries and manage customer communications
• Maintain showroom presentation and merchandising standards
• Assist with stocktakes and inventory-related activities
• Support promotional campaigns and store initiatives
• Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time

You Will Have

• Previous retail or customer service experience
• A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Confidence using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Experience within flooring, home improvement, interiors or retail sales would be advantageous, but is not essential.
