Sales Assistant

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable, customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our busy team in Chelmsford.

The Role

As a Sales Assistant, you will be the face of Chelmsford Roofing Supplies. You will assist trade contractors and DIY customers at the sales counter, handle phone enquiries, process orders, and ensure our customers receive prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly service every time.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Counter Sales: Serve trade counter customers warmly and efficiently, answering enquiries and taking orders.
• Telephone Sales & Support: Handle incoming phone calls, take accurate orders, and provide quotes.
• Order Processing & Quotations: Assist in preparing quotes, entering sales into the system, and managing customer requests.
• Product Advice: Learn and maintain solid product knowledge to recommend the right roofing materials for customer projects.
• Stock & Yard Support: Assist with stock control, maintaining clean display areas, and liaising with the yard team for customer order collection.

What We Are Looking For

• Customer-First Mindset: Excellent communication skills with a friendly, helpful approach to serving trade and retail customers.
• Roofing / Building Supplies Knowledge: Experience within the roofing sector or a builders merchant is highly advantageous, but not mandatory—full product training will be provided!
• Reliability & Initiative: Strong organization skills, punctuality, and a proactive attitude in a fast-paced retail/trade environment.
• Team Player: Ability to work closely with counter, sales, and warehouse colleagues.
