Sales Assistant

Corcoran’s Furniture and Carpets are looking for an experienced, full-time Sales Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for sales and an interest in furniture, flooring and interiors. You will need to understand what is important to each customer and advise them on products that best suit their home, style and needs.

Merchandising and store presentation will also be an important part of this role. The successful candidate should have a good eye for presentation and take pride in ensuring furniture and flooring displays are attractive, well laid out, correctly labelled and maintained to a high standard.

The candidate will need strong computer skills and the ability to use their own initiative. Our stores are open seven days a week, so flexibility to work weekends where required is essential.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist customers in selecting furniture and flooring and provide ideas and advice for their home or business.
• Take an active role in merchandising and maintaining the store, including arranging and refreshing displays to ensure products are presented to their best advantage.
• Ensure products are displayed, priced and labelled correctly and that the showroom is maintained to a high standard.
• Work as part of the team to achieve store goals and targets, while also working towards individual sales targets.
• Ensure standards for quality and customer service are met in line with Corcoran’s standards.
• Use initiative to identify opportunities to improve product displays and the overall presentation of the store.
• Assist with moving and repositioning products on the shop floor as required.
• Liaise with other stores regarding stock movements, transfers and clearance items.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous sales and customer service experience.
• A good eye for merchandising, product presentation and attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to use your own initiative.
• Computer literate.
• Cash handling and complaint handling experience.

Previous sales experience in furniture, flooring or a similar retail environment would be an advantage
