Retail & Warehouse Assistant – Horticulture

Job Description

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking individual to join our busy horticultural retail and warehouse team.

This varied, hands-on role involves customer service, stock management, order fulfilment, and general shop and warehouse duties.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in the horticultural industry or a strong understanding of horticultural products, along with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve customers in-store, providing friendly, helpful service.
• Assist customers with product enquiries and recommendations.
• Carry out regular stock counts and help maintain accurate stock levels.
• Receive, organise and replenish stock on shop shelves.
• Pick, pack and dispatch customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised shop and warehouse.
• Occasionally answer telephone calls and assist with customer enquiries.
• Support other team members with general day-to-day duties.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience or knowledge of horticulture, gardening, hydroponics or a related industry.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, approachable and professional manner.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and willing to undertake a variety of tasks.
• Comfortable carrying out physical warehouse duties, including handling stock.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience working in a retail or warehouse environment.
• Knowledge of horticultural equipment, growing media, nutrients and related products.
• Experience with stock control and order fulfilment systems.
• Previous experience picking and packing online orders.
• Valid forklift licence or recognised forklift training certification.
