About Us

Universal Cellular Inc. is a New York–based wholesale distributor specializing in used and refurbished smartphones and tablets. We move high volumes of iPhones, iPads, and Samsung Galaxy devices every week, and we're expanding into live commerce on Whatnot. We're looking for an energetic, camera-ready host to lead our live auctions and grow our audience.

The Role

You'll be the face and voice of Universal Cellular on Whatnot. You'll run live shows where you present devices, explain their condition clearly and honestly, keep viewers engaged, and drive bids and sales. You'll work closely with our inventory team to plan each show's lineup.

Responsibilities

• Host scheduled live shows on Whatnot selling iPhones, iPads, and Samsung devices through auctions, Buy It Now, and flash sales
• Present each device accurately on camera: model, storage, color, carrier/unlock status, battery health, cosmetic grade, and any defects
• Build hype and keep chat engaged with giveaways, bid wars, and fast-paced pacing
• Answer buyer questions live and keep a professional, trustworthy tone
• Coordinate with the inventory team to prepare show lineups and pull devices in order
• Help grow our follower count and repeat-buyer base
• Track show performance (sales, viewers, average sale price) and suggest improvements
• Follow Whatnot policies and our internal grading standards so every listing is honest and consistent

Requirements

• Experience hosting live streams, live auctions, or on-camera sales (Whatnot, TikTok Shop, eBay Live, Instagram Live, QVC-style, etc.)
• Confident, high-energy, and comfortable talking nonstop on camera
• Solid knowledge of iPhone, iPad, and Samsung models and generations, or the ability to learn quickly
• Understanding of used-device basics: unlocked vs. carrier-locked, battery health, cosmetic grading (A/B/C), iCloud/Google locks
• Reliable and punctual; able to work evenings and some weekends when live traffic is highest
• Able to work on-site in New York

Nice to Have

• An existing following on Whatnot or social media
• Background in electronics retail, phone repair, or wholesale
• Familiarity with device diagnostic reports (e.g., Phonecheck)
• Bilingual (Spanish, Arabic, or other)

Pay: $25.03 - $30.14 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
