What they need
ABOUT US
Since 1988, our family-owned and operated business has been built around a simple principle: help our customers find the right solution at the right value.
We believe good business starts with listening. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we take the time to understand what our customers need and use our decades of industry experience and trusted supplier relationships to find the products and solutions that best meet those needs.
Our customers count on us for knowledgeable advice, competitive pricing, responsive service, and—most importantly—follow-through.
We strive to deliver more than we promise, and we never promise what we cannot deliver.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Monterey Packaging Supplies is seeking a relationship-focused Sales Associate to generate revenue through the sale of packaging products and related supplies. This role focuses on developing new business, maintaining and growing existing customer relationships, and supporting profitable sales within established company margin guidelines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
· Identify and develop new customer accounts while maintaining and growing relationships with existing customers.
· Promote and sell Monterey Packaging Supplies products and services using a consultative, customer-focused approach.
· Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers and provide professional, timely responses and follow-up.
· Prepare pricing quotes and work within established company cost, margin, and approval guidelines.
· Address customer needs and coordinate solutions, orders, and fulfillment with internal staff.
· Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and orders.
· Support daily sales functions, showroom/product display needs, and team operations as needed.
· Contribute ideas for improving sales processes, operations, and the customer experience.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
· Associate degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related professional experience.
· Five (5) years of experience in sales, business development, or customer service, including a minimum of two (2) years of outside sales experience, preferred.
· Experience in packaging, manufacturing, distribution, or wholesale environments preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
· Strong organization, time management, and follow-through.
· Proficiency with computers and common business software applications.
· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
· Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation is based primarily on commission earned from qualified sales in accordance with the Company's Sales Commission Agreement. Commission is based on a percentage of gross trading margin, and commissions are earned when payment is received from customers. A guaranteed commission advance against earned commissions and additional bonus opportunities may also apply as provided under the Company's compensation plan.
· Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
· Cell phone and mileage reimbursement
· Retirement plan with employer matching contributions
· Medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer contribution toward health insurance premiums
· Professional development and education reimbursement, including eligible tuition assistance, certification renewal, conferences, seminars, and job-related training
WHO WILL THRIVE HERE
This role is a strong fit for someone who sees sales as building relationships and solving problems—not simply selling products. You should be comfortable developing new business, working independently in the field, following through on commitments, and becoming a trusted resource for your customers.
If you value personal service, long-term customer relationships, and doing what you say you are going to do, we'd like to hear from you.
