Sales Associate

Job Summary

We are seeking a personable, motivated, and teachable Sales Associate to join our showroom team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, has an appreciation for quality craftsmanship and interior furnishings, and takes pride in helping people find furniture that will become part of their homes for many years.

As a Sales Associate, you will guide customers through the Hardwood Artisans collection and help them develop furniture solutions based on their individual needs, preferences, space, and budget.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide a friendly, professional showroom experience.
• Learn about each customer's needs, preferences, lifestyle, and budget.
• Educate customers about Hardwood Artisans' furniture, craftsmanship, construction, woods, finishes, and customization options.
• Help customers select furniture styles, dimensions, woods, finishes, hardware, and other options.
• Assist customers in modifying standard furniture designs to meet their specific needs.
• Help develop custom furniture solutions when an existing product does not meet the customer's requirements.
• Prepare accurate furniture quotes and orders.
• Explain pricing, customization, delivery, payment, and ordering processes.
• Maintain detailed customer information and follow up with prospective and existing customers.
• Build long-term relationships with customers rather than focusing solely on individual transactions.
• Work closely with designers, craftsmen, production staff, and delivery personnel to ensure customer expectations are understood and met.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming showroom.
• Continue developing knowledge of Hardwood Artisans' extensive product line and furniture-making process.

Requirements

• Friendly, approachable, and comfortable speaking with people from a variety of backgrounds.
• A strong listener who can identify what a customer actually needs.
• Comfortable discussing furniture, design, dimensions, materials, and pricing.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Comfortable working with measurements and basic mathematics.
• Professional and reliable.
• Interested in woodworking, furniture, interior design, architecture, or craftsmanship.
• Comfortable learning a large and highly customizable product line.
• Able to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
• Motivated by providing excellent customer service and finding the right solution rather than using high-pressure sales tactics.
• Previous retail sales experience or familiarity with retail store operations preferred
• WEEKENDS A MUST (Store hours: Monday - Saturday: 10 AM - 8 PM; Sunday: 12 PM - 5 PM)
• Familiarity using AutoCad or willingness to enroll in an AutoCad course within 6 months of starting position (company will pay for tuition costs but not for time spent completing coursework).

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
