About the role

We are seeking a Sales Assistant to join the team at Old Seng Choong, a dynamic retail establishment located in the Airport Area Islands District. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of customer service and sales excellence. As a Sales Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional shopping experiences, driving sales performance and representing the values of our brand to our diverse customer base. This position is integral to our retail operations and contributes directly to the success and growth of our business.

What you'll be doing

• Welcoming customers as they enter the store and providing them with attentive, personalised service throughout their visit
• Assisting customers in locating products and offering expert recommendations based on their needs and preferences
• Processing transactions accurately and efficiently at the point of sale, handling cash, card payments and digital transactions
• Maintaining a thorough knowledge of our product range, including features, benefits and pricing information
• Keeping the sales floor clean, organised and visually appealing, ensuring merchandise is properly displayed and stocked
• Answering customer enquiries and addressing concerns with professionalism and courtesy
• Achieving individual and team sales targets through effective product promotion and upselling
• Following company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations and security protocols
• Collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations and a positive team environment

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment, demonstrating a proven track record in sales
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively and build rapport
• A friendly, professional demeanour and genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service
• Numeracy skills and accuracy when handling cash and processing transactions
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and ability to lift and move merchandise as required
• Flexibility with working hours, including availability for shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Basic computer literacy and proficiency with point-of-sale systems (training will be provided)
• Attention to detail and organisational skills to maintain store standards and inventory management
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment
• Enthusiasm for learning about products and staying updated on current promotions and stock
