Sales Engineer - Mechanical

An established and growing HVAC solutions provider is looking to add a Sales Engineer to its Chicago team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, working with consulting engineers and contractors, and taking ownership of projects from specification through to award.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business within the commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and institutional markets by promoting advanced HVAC and mechanical equipment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, building owners, and end users.
• Identify and pursue new project opportunities throughout the Chicago market.
• Work closely with engineering firms to secure equipment specifications on upcoming projects.
• Support contractors through the bidding and procurement process.
• Review plans, specifications, and project requirements to recommend appropriate HVAC solutions.
• Coordinate with internal teams to prepare proposals, quotations, and technical presentations.
• Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle and project execution process.
• Stay current on market trends, competitor activity, and construction opportunities.

Requirements

• Experience in HVAC, mechanical, building automation, engineered equipment, controls, or related technical sales.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and construction processes.
• Experience calling on consulting engineers, contractors, or building owners is highly desirable.
• Ability to build long-term relationships and develop new business opportunities.
• Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred, but equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
