POSITION SUMMARY

Fraction Freeze-Dried is a startup bringing American-raised trout to the market through premium freeze-dried protein ingredients and finished products. We are building something new and need a Sales Manager to drive profitable revenue growth, deepen customer relationships, and expand Fraction’s presence across strategic B2B channels.

In this role, you will sell freeze-dried protein ingredients and fresh/frozen trout products to pet food manufacturers, co-packers, brand partners, distributors, and other strategic customers. You will own key accounts and new business development, develop short- and long-term sales plans, and help position American Trout as a differentiated, premium protein. This is a hands-on role for a sales leader who can build relationships, manage a disciplined pipeline, translate market insight into action, and help scale the sales function as Fraction grows.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term sales plans and go-to-market strategies to achieve revenue, volume, margin, and account-growth goals
  • Identify, prospect, and close new B2B opportunities for freeze-dried protein ingredients and fresh/frozen trout products
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline across pet food manufacturers, co-packers, private-label brands, distributors, and other strategic channels
  • Develop account strategies for key targets and customers, from initial outreach through pricing, contract negotiation, onboarding, and ongoing account management
  • Drive profitable growth by expanding existing accounts, increasing account penetration, and continuously developing new business
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, product samples, proposals, and business reviews tailored to customer needs
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements in coordination with the President and other appropriate stakeholders

Key Account & Partner Management

  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with customers, distributors, brokers, and channel partners
  • Conduct regular business reviews and customer visits to monitor performance, resolve issues, identify opportunities, and ensure timely follow-up
  • Ensure a consistent flow of accurate information between customers and internal teams regarding forecasts, orders, product needs, and market activity
  • Evaluate partner performance and provide direction, training, and accountability to broker or distributor partners as applicable

Market Development & Strategy

  • Position American Trout and Fraction products as differentiated, premium offerings within target markets
  • Research customer needs, market trends, competitive activity, and emerging channels to identify growth opportunities and inform sales strategy
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support production planning, pricing strategy, product development, and new product launches
  • Partner with marketing to develop effective sales collateral, merchandising, promotional activity, and market-specific programs
  • Support the launch of new products and help accelerate speed-to-market with priority customers and channels

Trade Shows & Industry Engagement

  • Represent Fraction at relevant trade shows, conferences, customer events, and networking opportunities
  • Plan and execute trade show strategy, including meeting schedules, samples, booth support, lead capture, and post-show follow-up
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry contacts, trade organizations, and potential strategic partners

Sales Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate CRM records for prospects, accounts, activities, opportunities, and pipeline status
  • Track and report sales performance, pipeline health, forecasts, account activity, and competitive developments to the Director
  • Collaborate with production, operations, quality, and leadership to align sales commitments with capacity, product availability, and customer requirements
  • Complete expense reports and other required administrative responsibilities accurately and on time

General

  • Travel regularly to meet with customers and partners, attend industry events, visit key markets, and support Fraction facilities as needed
  • Conduct business with integrity and collaborate effectively across teams in support of company goals
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the growth of the business

COMPETENCIES

  • Results-oriented sales leader with a strong record of growing revenue and developing accounts
  • Strong relationship builder who earns trust with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker who can translate market opportunities into practical sales plans and measurable action
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills across multiple customer levels
  • Organized and disciplined in forecasting, CRM management, follow-up, and account planning
  • Self-starter who works effectively with limited structure and adapts well in a growing business
  • High degree of integrity, accountability, sound judgment, and professionalism

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a remote/flexible position with regular travel to customer sites, key markets, trade shows, and Fraction facilities. Work is primarily performed in a home or office environment. When visiting production facilities, the environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, wet conditions, and moderate noise levels.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to travel domestically on a regular basis, including multi-day trips
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during travel, trade shows, and customer visits
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift or transport trade show materials and product samples up to 30 lbs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of progressive sales, account management, or business development experience in food, pet food, seafood, animal nutrition, food ingredients, or a related industry
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing new and existing accounts
  • Experience developing sales plans, managing a territory or market, and working with distributors, brokers, or strategic channel partners
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales cycles, account management, pricing, forecasting, and contract negotiation
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent planning, organizational, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in pet food, animal nutrition, seafood, fresh/frozen food, or food ingredients
  • Existing relationships with pet food manufacturers, co-packers, distributors, brokers, ingredient buyers, retail accounts, or other relevant customers
  • Knowledge of freeze-drying, protein ingredients, aquaculture, or trout products
  • Experience launching new products or brands and developing new markets
  • Experience working in a startup, early-stage, or high-growth company environment
