Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to drive business development and revenue growth in the freight forwarding and international logistics industry.
The ideal candidate will have a proven sales track record in freight forwarding, international trade, import/export, or a related industry. This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and delivering customized logistics solutions that address customers’ transportation and supply chain needs.
Candidates with experience selling integrated logistics solutions, including air and ocean freight, customs brokerage, warehousing, and distribution, are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities within Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective customers, existing accounts, and key decision-makers.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and business growth targets.
- Conduct customer visits, sales presentations, and negotiations to secure new accounts and expand existing business.
- Analyze customer shipping requirements and propose cost-effective, customized freight forwarding and logistics solutions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify additional business opportunities.
Freight Forwarding & Supply Chain Solutions
- Promote and sell a broad range of logistics services, including:
- Air freight import and export
- Ocean freight import and export
- Customs brokerage and customs clearance
- Warehousing and distribution
- Integrated supply chain and other logistics solutions
- Identify opportunities to combine multiple services to address customers’ broader supply chain requirements.
- Collaborate with internal operations teams and service partners to develop commercially competitive and operationally feasible solutions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of international shipping procedures, import/export documentation, U.S. customs regulations, and applicable trade compliance requirements.
Account Management & Revenue Growth
- Develop long-term customer relationships and expand business with existing accounts.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across the company’s service portfolio.
- Monitor account performance, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
- Coordinate with internal teams to address customer needs and support reliable service delivery.
Territory Management & Reporting
- Manage sales activities throughout Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
- Conduct customer visits and travel as needed to develop new accounts and strengthen existing relationships.
- Pursue opportunities involving shipments moving through, originating from, or destined for locations outside the assigned territory.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, customer records, and activity reports.
Qualifications
- Proven sales experience in freight forwarding, international logistics, import/export, international trade, or a closely related industry.
- Demonstrated success in business development, new account acquisition, and customer relationship management.
- Working knowledge of international freight forwarding, import/export procedures, shipping documentation, and U.S. customs regulations.
- Ability to understand customer supply chain requirements and recommend appropriate logistics solutions.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of managing sales activities independently.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling multiple logistics services, including air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, warehousing, and distribution.
- Experience providing integrated supply chain solutions rather than focusing exclusively on a single transportation service.
- An established network of customer contacts in manufacturing, distribution, international trading, or other import/export-intensive industries.
- Experience managing key accounts and expanding existing customer relationships.
- A U.S. Customs Broker License is a plus but is not required.
Compensation
- Base Salary: competitive base pay + commissions.
- Commission: Additional commission based on the company's commission plan.
Commission eligibility is not limited to shipments within the assigned geographic territory. Business generated from customers developed or managed by the Sales Manager may qualify for commission even when the associated shipments originate from, are destined for, or move through locations outside Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, subject to the company's commission policy.
Work Location
This position is based near DFW International Airport in the Dallas–Fort Worth area of Texas. Business travel is required as necessary for customer meetings, account development, and other sales-related activities.
