What they need
Ready to build strong customer relationships, drive growth, and represent a trusted Kiwi brand with over 100 years of industry success?
Asmuss is seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our team, covering Dunedin, Southland, and Central Otago. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and delivering outstanding customer outcomes. Working with our extensive range of steel and flow control products, including structural steel, merchant products, pipe & fittings, and valves, you will be playing a key role in growing our market presence and helping our customers succeed.
About the Role
You will be responsible for growing sales across our core steel and flow control product range while developing strong, long-term relationships with customers throughout the region. You'll work closely with existing customers to understand their business needs and identify opportunities to add value, while also actively seeking and securing new business opportunities.
This is a hands-on, customer-focused role providing expert product advice, preparing and following up quotations, negotiating solutions, and helping customers achieve successful outcomes. You'll take ownership of your sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are progressed effectively while maintaining accurate records through our CRM system.
Success in this role comes from your ability to build trust, identify growth opportunities, and deliver exceptional customer service by staying connected to market trends and industry developments, using your commercial insight to spot opportunities and providing valuable feedback to the business. Working collaboratively with our internal teams you'll help ensure a seamless customer experience from enquiry through to delivery, while consistently striving to achieve sales targets and drive profitable growth across your territory. We're looking for someone who is ambitious, customer-focused, and driven to achieve results.
Ideally, you will have:
- Substantial experience in a sales role, preferably within steel, industrial, engineering, construction, or similar with a proven history of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent communication with strong relationship-building, customer service, negotiation, and closing skills
- Solid commercial acumen and problem-solving capability including confidence working with numbers and analysing customer needs
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
- A high level of organisation and attention to detail
- A full New Zealand Driver Licence and willingness to travel throughout the region
In Return, We Offer
- Competitive salary package
- Company vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone
- Short-term incentive programme
- Southern Cross Medical Insurance
- Life insurance and complimentary will services
- Ongoing support from experienced leaders
- A collaborative and down-to-earth team culture
- The opportunity to build a rewarding career with a respected New Zealand business
