What they need
Turn great people skills into a field sales career
If you are naturally good with people, enjoy being out and about, and know how to create a positive customer experience, this could be your next step. Our client is an established New Zealand supplier to the construction sector and is looking for a Sales Representative to manage and grow an existing Auckland customer portfolio.
This is not a desk-based or work-from-home sales role. You will spend most of your day visiting construction sites and customer offices, staying visible, building relationships, dropping off samples and finding practical opportunities to help customers buy more of the right products.
What you will be doing:
- Manage an established call cycle across Auckland.
- Visit customers and construction sites every day.
- Build relationships with multiple contacts at each customer.
- Deliver product samples, swatches and monthly promotional material.
- Ask good questions, understand upcoming projects and spot sales opportunities.
- Keep in touch by site visit, phone and email, then follow through promptly.
- Record customer activity and opportunities accurately in the CRM.
- Work closely with the Customer Service team on quotes, pricing and customer requests.
Who this could suit:
You may already be in junior sales, internal sales or trade support. You could also be a standout retail or customer-service performer who is ready to move into an on-the-road sales role. Experience around construction, trade retail, building supplies, automotive sales or commercial customers would be useful, but attitude and people skills matter most.
You will stand out if you are:
- Confident starting conversations and breaking the ice with new people.
- Friendly, outgoing and genuinely interested in customers.
- Teachable, keen to learn products and open to regular feedback.
- Driven and proactive, with the initiative to create opportunities.
- Resilient and able to hear 'not right now' without giving up.
- Organised, responsive and strong at follow-up.
- Comfortable working independently on the road while staying connected to the team.
- Confident using email and learning CRM and business systems.
What is on offer:
- A salary up to $80,000, depending on experience.
- Company vehicle or pool Ute for business travel.
- Company phone and laptop.
- An established customer base rather than a pure cold-start territory.
- Product training, coaching and support from an experienced sales leader and customer service team.
- Longer-term development opportunities into product, category or business development work.
- A Wiri base with daily travel throughout Auckland.
Hours and location:
The role is based in Wiri and the hours are 7.00 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday, with reasonable flexibility around customer and construction-site requirements. A full New Zealand driver licence is essential. There is no work-from-home option because the role is designed to keep you in front of customers.
Apply now:
If you are ready to build a field sales career and believe your energy, communication and follow-through would make customers want to keep dealing with you, apply with your CV and a short note explaining the customer-facing experience you would bring to the role.
Other offers great for you!
