Pay: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience, plus sales commission
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM

Job Description

Tacoma Iron Work is a custom metal fabrication and installation company seeking an experienced, motivated Business Development Sales Representative to help grow our customer base and generate new business opportunities.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, enjoys building relationships, and is comfortable actively pursuing new customers and projects.

This is a proactive, outside-sales-focused position. The ideal candidate will spend time connecting with contractors, visiting potential customers, developing relationships, and identifying new opportunities rather than relying primarily on incoming leads or online bidding platforms.

Our projects range from custom residential gates, railings, and ornamental ironwork to commercial fabrication, structural steel, and installation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, builders, property managers, and potential customers.
• Contact prospective customers through phone calls, emails, meetings, and job site visits.
• Follow up consistently on leads, proposals, and potential projects.
• Build and maintain an organized sales pipeline, including customer contacts and upcoming opportunities.
• Learn and understand Tacoma Iron Work's fabrication and installation capabilities.
• Coordinate with our estimating and operations teams to develop proposals and secure projects.
• Maintain relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities for repeat business.
• Represent Tacoma Iron Work professionally at customer meetings, networking events, and industry functions.
• Provide regular updates on sales activity, opportunities, and progress toward sales goals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of outside sales or business development experience preferred.
• Experience in construction, metal fabrication, or related industries is a plus.
• Proven ability to prospect for new customers and develop business relationships.
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Comfortable meeting customers, visiting job sites, and actively pursuing new opportunities.
• Basic computer skills and ability to maintain customer and sales records.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Estimating & Project Support

Tacoma Iron Work's estimating team will initially handle project estimating and pricing while the salesperson learns our products, processes, and capabilities.

As experience and knowledge develop, additional estimating and project responsibilities may be introduced.

The primary focus of this position is generating new business and building long-term customer relationships.

Compensation & Benefits

• $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience.

Performance Expectations

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their sales activity and consistently works toward developing new business.

Performance will be evaluated through customer outreach, new relationships, qualified sales opportunities, follow-up activity, and awarded projects.
