Sales Representative – Hydraulics

Who we are

FPD (Fluid Power Distributors) has been the Waikato's hydraulics specialist since 1984. From our base on Ellis Street in Frankton, we supply pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, filtration, coolers, steering components and everything in between.

We are the exclusive New Zealand distributor for Kawasaki KPM and carry genuine and quality parts for most of the big names in earthmoving and heavy equipment, including Hyundai, Sumitomo, Volvo, Doosan, Hitachi, Komatsu, Kobelco and Caterpillar.

We do more than sell parts. Our workshop rebuilds cylinders and rams, tests and repairs pumps and motors, and designs and builds complete hydraulic systems. So when you walk into a customer's yard, you can offer a parts deal, a repair, a rebuild or a full solution.

The role

Machines not running cost our customers money. They need someone who can get them the right part or fix quickly, and that will be you.

Your time will be split between the road and the office. Expect to be on farms, construction sites, forestry skids, quarries and in workshops, then back at base putting quotes together with our team.

You will:

• Look after a solid base of existing customers and grow what they spend with us
• Go after new accounts in civil construction, agriculture, forestry and mining
• Find out what customers need and match it to our parts, workshop and engineering services
• Quote, follow up and close
• Work closely with our workshop and engineers to deliver what you've sold
• Keep your pipeline and CRM up to date

Who we're looking for

If you've sold hydraulics, machinery, engineering supplies or trade products, great. But we care more about attitude than your CV. If you're competitive, you hate losing a deal, and you'll make the extra call others skip, we want to hear from you. We'll teach you the product.

You will need:

• Drive to win, and the discipline to follow up
• To be comfortable talking to anyone, from a farm owner to a fleet manager to an engineer
• A practical mind and an interest in how machines work
• To be organised and able to run your own week
• A full NZ driver's licence
• The right to work in New Zealand
