SAP ABAP Support Consultant

Role Overview

We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented SAP ABAP Support Consultant to keep our enterprise systems running seamlessly. In this role, you will be the core technical problem-solver responsible for diagnosing, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues across our SAP environment. You will work closely with functional leads, business users, and basis teams to fix technical bugs, optimize code performance, and deliver minor enhancements that keep our operations running without a hitch.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Issue Diagnosis & Resolution: Investigate, debug, and resolve Level 2 and Level 3 technical incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
• Code Maintenance & Enhancements: Maintain and refine existing RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows), delivering minor change requests and system fixes.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor system behavior, analyze dump logs (ST22), run traces (ST05/SAT), and optimize slow-running ABAP code and SQL queries.
• Integration & Interface Support: Troubleshoot and fix issues related to IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, and OData interface failures between SAP and external applications.
• Release & Regression Testing: Perform thorough unit and regression testing for fixes, patches, and system upgrades to prevent disruption to business operations.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear technical documentation, record root-cause analyses (RCA), and build standard operating procedures for recurring support scenarios.

What You’ll Need

• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and application support (AMS).
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Object-Oriented ABAP (OO ABAP), User Exits, BAdIs, Enhancement Framework, BAPIs, and IDocs.
• Debugging & Analysis: Advanced debugging skills with deep familiarity using SAP diagnostic tools (ST22, ST05, SAT, Code Inspector/ATC).
• Forms & Reports: Solid background maintaining SmartForms, SAPscript, and Adobe Forms, as well as ALV reporting.
• Service Management: Experience working within an ITIL-aligned support framework using ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Solution Manager, or Jira).
• Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical fixes to functional consultants and business stakeholders.

What Will Set You Apart

• Hands-on exposure to S/4HANA environments, CDS views, or OData service debugging.
• Experience with SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 troubleshooting and front-end debugging.
• ITIL Foundation certification or formal training in incident and problem management processes.
• Background in automated monitoring, batch job management, or ABAP code optimization on HANA databases.
