SAP Data Management & Conversion : Project Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Data Management & Conversion (DM&C) Project Manager to support SAP implementation and data transformation initiatives . The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating data build activities, mock data loads, defect management, reconciliation, data quality tracking, and cutover readiness across technical and functional teams.

This role requires strong project management and governance capabilities, with the ability to coordinate client stakeholders, monitor project milestones, manage risks and dependencies, and provide clear status reporting throughout the SAP data conversion lifecycle.

The Project Manager will work closely with client project managers, technical delivery leads, functional teams, and business data owners to ensure data conversion activities remain aligned with the overall project plan and go-live objectives.

Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Schedule Management

• Maintain and track the Data Object Inventory as the central status and progress tracking artifact.
• Monitor data build schedules against the overall project plan and proactively identify delays.
• Coordinate source-to-target mapping changes through established change control processes.
• Track milestones, dependencies, and deliverables in coordination with client project management teams.

2. Resource & Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate resource assignments, priorities, and dependencies with technical delivery leads.
• Engage client functional leads and business data owners to ensure timely participation in data cleansing and validation activities.
• Identify resource constraints and delivery bottlenecks and escalate them to project leadership.
• Facilitate collaboration across technical, functional, and business teams.

3. Mock Load Planning & Governance

• Develop and coordinate mock data load schedules with client and technical teams.
• Facilitate agreement on entry and exit criteria for each mock load cycle.
• Coordinate go/no-go readiness checkpoints before mock load execution.
• Consolidate mock load results, including object-level pass/fail status and progress across successive cycles.
• Report readiness gaps and outstanding dependencies to project leadership.

4. Defect & Issue Management

• Facilitate regular defect triage meetings across technical and functional teams.
• Track defect categorization, ownership, resolution progress, and escalation.
• Monitor defect aging, recurring issues, and resolution trends.
• Prepare defect burn-down reports and highlight critical issues affecting project timelines or go-live readiness.

5. Data Reconciliation Oversight

• Track execution of reconciliation activities for individual data objects in coordination with functional and business leads.
• Monitor reconciliation results and obtain formal sign-offs for each object and mock load cycle.
• Identify and escalate delayed reconciliation activities or outstanding business approvals.
• Maintain documentation of reconciliation status and outstanding exceptions.

6. Data Quality & Cleansing Oversight

• Monitor data cleansing progress against the Data Object Inventory and project schedule.
• Track business data owner accountability and outstanding cleansing dependencies.
• Identify data quality risks and assess their impact on critical project milestones.
• Escalate delays and ownership gaps to the appropriate client stakeholders.

Note: Data cleansing execution remains the responsibility of the client and designated business teams.

7. Cutover Planning & Runbook Coordination

• Coordinate development and maintenance of the SAP data conversion cutover runbook.
• Work with technical and functional teams to incorporate mock load timings, task dependencies, and execution requirements.
• Validate cross-functional dependencies involving SAP Basis, functional teams, and testing teams.
• Facilitate cutover walkthroughs, readiness reviews, and dress rehearsals before go-live.

8. Cutover & Go-Live Coordination

• Coordinate mock cutover exercises and document execution timings, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Track production cutover activities against the approved runbook and communicate status at agreed checkpoints.
• Facilitate real-time issue triage and escalate critical blockers through established governance channels.
• Track collection of go-live reconciliation approvals from client business and functional stakeholders.

9. Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

• Maintain and regularly update the Data Management & Conversion RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies).
• Identify risks relating to data volumes, conversion timelines, data quality, resources, and go-live readiness.
• Escalate critical risks and unresolved issues to the client project manager and steering committee.
• Track mitigation actions, responsible owners, and target resolution dates.

10. Reporting & Project Governance

• Prepare and distribute object-level Red-Amber-Green (RAG) status reports.
• Provide regular updates on DM&C progress, milestones, risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Maintain project schedules, dashboards, RAID logs, decision records, and sign-off documentation.
• Support stakeholder communication, governance meetings, change control, and contractual reporting requirements.

11. Hypercare & Project Closeout

• Coordinate the handover of open data defects and residual load issues to the hypercare support team.
• Ensure outstanding items have documented owners, priorities, and resolution plans.
• Support lessons-learned sessions and preparation of engagement closeout reports.

• Data Management & Conversion status dashboards and object-level RAG reports, prepared in coordination with McKesson project leads.
• Project schedule tracking and milestone management.
• Data Object Inventory maintenance and progress tracking.
• Mock load calendar, readiness checkpoints, and cycle outcome reports.
• Defect tracking, triage reporting, and burn-down summaries.
• Reconciliation status and sign-off tracking.
• Data cleansing progress and dependency reporting.
• Cutover runbook coordination and readiness reporting.
• DM&C RAID log maintenance and management.
• Governance documentation, decision logs, and project closeout reporting.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in project management or project coordination for SAP implementation, migration, or data conversion programs.
• Strong understanding of SAP data migration and conversion processes, including data object management, source-to-target mapping, mock loads, reconciliation, defect management, and cutover.
• Experience coordinating technical delivery teams, SAP functional consultants, business stakeholders, and client project managers.
• Demonstrated experience with project schedules, RAID logs, status dashboards, milestone tracking, and governance reporting.
• Strong understanding of data quality management, cleansing dependencies, reconciliation processes, and go-live readiness.
• Experience facilitating cross-functional meetings, issue triage, risk escalation, and stakeholder communications.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with project management and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Jira, or equivalent platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation programs.
• Exposure to SAP data migration tools and platforms such as SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, SAP Advanced Data Migration by Syniti, or other enterprise data migration solutions.
• Experience coordinating mock conversion cycles, dress rehearsals, production cutovers, and hypercare transitions.
• Experience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple system integrators, vendors, and client stakeholders.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or other recognized project management certification is an advantage.
