SAP Functional Architect

Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned SAP Functional Architect to own functional solution design across SAP ECC and S/4HANA landscapes.

This role is part of a 10-member, self-contained SAP pod that can advise on, direct, manage and deliver SAP transformation programs end to end: ECC-to-S/4HANA migration (system conversion, new implementation and selective data transition), RISE with SAP, SAP HANA database migration and operations, Basis and technical upgrades, ABAP and Fiori development, and SAP application management. The candidate should have deep expertise in at least one core SAP area (FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, QM or EWM), strong cross-module integration knowledge, and the ability to turn business requirements into S/4HANA solutions that stay close to SAP standard. The pod uses AI to speed up transformation work: documenting legacy ABAP, analysing and remediating custom code, and generating and running test scripts, with consultants reviewing and approving every change.

Key Responsibilities

Solution design

• Define functional architecture and solution strategy for S/4HANA transformation and implementation programs.

• Lead fit-to-standard and solution-design workshops with business stakeholders, using SAP Best Practices and SAP Activate.

• Assess current ECC processes and define the future-state S/4HANA design, including Universal Journal, Business Partner, MRP Live, Advanced ATP and other simplification items.

• Use AI-generated documentation of current custom code to understand how the legacy system really works.

• Define the Fiori app strategy for business users with the technical architect.

• Ensure integration across FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, QM and EWM, and minimize custom development.

Migration and delivery

• Define the business side of the migration approach with the technical architect: system conversion, new implementation or selective data transition, including downtime and business-continuity needs.

• Own data migration design: SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, master-data cleansing and Business Partner conversion.

• Review functional specifications for RICEFW objects, including AI-drafted specifications.

• Own test strategy (SIT, UAT, regression) with AI-generated and automated test scripts.

• Plan cutover, go-live and hypercare.

• Mentor functional consultants, lead cross-functional teams, and support pre-sales with process assessments, solution approaches and estimates.

Mandatory Skills

• 12+ years of SAP functional consulting experience, with 4+ years as a solution or functional architect.

• Deep expertise in at least one core module, with strong cross-module integration knowledge.

• At least 2 end-to-end S/4HANA implementations or ECC-to-S/4HANA conversions. • Strong command of S/4HANA simplifications and SAP Activate / fit-to-standard.

• Data migration experience with the S/4HANA Migration Cockpit.

• Experience working with ABAP / technical teams on RICEFW requirements.

• Strong knowledge of SIT, UAT and regression testing cycles.

• Strong stakeholder-management and client-facing communication skills.

Nice to Have

• RISE with SAP program experience.

• SAP Fiori business-process and app knowledge.

• Process mining or process modelling (for example SAP Signavio).

• Embedded Analytics and CDS awareness.

• Global rollout experience; industry domain in manufacturing, logistics, retail, life sciences or BFSI.

• SAP S/4HANA certification.

Education

BE/BTech/MCA/MBA/CA or equivalent qualification, depending on functional specialization.
