SAP MDG Functional Consultant

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced SAP MDG Functional Consultant to support Master Data Governance initiatives, working closely with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements, design functional solutions, and improve master data processes and quality.

The role requires strong functional knowledge of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) , hands-on experience with Material Master , and the ability to facilitate workshops, perform data profiling, and translate business requirements into clear functional designs and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate business and functional workshops to understand master data requirements, processes, and governance needs.
• Provide functional expertise in SAP MDG and Master Data Governance .
• Provide functional expertise across Material Master and related master data processes .
• Analyse current-state master data processes and define future-state requirements.
• Perform data profiling and data quality analysis to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and remediation requirements.
• Develop blueprints, functional designs, process documentation, and Excel-based functional specifications .
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional requirements for technical teams.
• Support the design and implementation of SAP MDG governance processes, workflows, validations, and data models.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, architects, developers, and project teams.
• Support data cleansing, enrichment, remediation, migration, and governance activities as required.
• Contribute to the definition and improvement of Master Data Governance and Master Data Management processes .
• Support functional testing, defect resolution, and business acceptance activities.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong functional knowledge and experience in SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG) .
• Strong experience with Material Master , including key attributes, processes, and dependencies.
• Experience in Master Data Management / Master Data Governance initiatives.
• Strong experience in workshop facilitation and requirements gathering.
• Experience with data profiling, data quality assessment, and data analysis .
• Ability to produce business blueprints, functional designs, process flows, and Excel-based functional specifications .
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical functional solutions.
• Good understanding of master data governance, data ownership, data quality, and data lifecycle management .

Preferred

• Experience in a Finance master data domain or finance-related data processes.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA and/or S/4HANA transformation programmes.
• Exposure to other master data domains such as Customer, Supplier, or Business Partner .
• Experience with SAP MDG implementation, rollout, or transformation programmes.
• Experience with master data migration, cleansing, and remediation.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will combine strong SAP MDG, Master Data Governance, and Material Master expertise with excellent stakeholder and workshop facilitation skills.

You should be comfortable working between business and technical teams, analysing data, challenging and clarifying requirements, and producing high-quality functional documentation. Experience with Finance-related master data and SAP S/4HANA would be advantageous.
