Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced SAP MDG-M Technical Architect to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise-scale Master Data Governance solutions within global S/4HANA transformation programs.

The ideal candidate combines deep SAP MDG-M technical expertise with strong techno-functional knowledge and architectural leadership capabilities. This role will be responsible for defining end-to-end MDG-M solution architecture, governing technical design standards, driving integration strategies, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready master data solutions.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, functional consultants, data governance teams, and development teams across global programs to establish robust Material Master governance frameworks and ensure seamless integration across SAP and non-SAP landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define and own the overall SAP MDG-M solution architecture for global S/4HANA transformation initiatives.
• Lead architecture design workshops and translate business requirements into scalable MDG-M solution blueprints.
• Establish governance standards, technical frameworks, development guidelines, and MDG best practices.
• Provide architectural oversight across MDG development, integrations, data migration, replication, and data quality initiatives.
• Act as the primary technical authority for MDG-M implementations and support complex solution decisions.

SAP MDG-M Design & Configuration

• Design and implement SAP MDG-M data models, governance processes, workflows, and user interfaces using SAP standard frameworks.
• Architect approval processes for Material Creation, Change, Extension, Blocking, and Deletion scenarios.
• Design rule-based workflows utilizing:
• BRF+
• Responsibility Management
• DQM
• Change Request Types
• Workflow Frameworks
• Lead MDG data model extensions, entity enhancements, and UI adaptations through FPM and SAP Fiori/UI5.
• Design validation, derivation, enrichment, and governance controls leveraging BRF+, BAdIs, and custom enhancements.

Development & Customization

• Lead technical development activities involving:
• ABAP OO
• BAdIs
• Enhancement Framework
• Web Services
• SAP UI5
• SAP Fiori
• OData Services
• CDS Views
• Review and approve technical specifications, code quality, transport strategy, and development standards.
• Guide development teams in implementing reusable, scalable, and performance-optimized MDG solutions.

Integration Architecture

• Define integration strategies between SAP MDG and enterprise systems including:
• SAP S/4HANA
• ECC
• PLM Teamcenter
• Data Quality Platforms
• Middleware Solutions
• Third-Party Enterprise Applications
• Architect data replication frameworks leveraging:
• DRF+
• SOA Services
• ALE/IDocs
• Key Mapping
• SAP AIF
• eQube (preferred)
• Design monitoring, reconciliation, error handling, and reprocessing frameworks for enterprise integrations.

Data Migration, Quality & Governance

• Lead Material Master migration strategy and execution activities.
• Design migration approaches using:
• LSMW
• LTMC
• LTMOM
• Migration Cockpit
• IDoc-based Migration
• Define enterprise-wide data quality frameworks and governance controls.
• Drive material master consolidation, duplicate management, and data cleansing initiatives utilizing:
• SAP Consolidation and Mass Processing (CMP)
• SAP Data Quality Management (DQM)

S/4HANA & Enterprise Data Governance

• Support greenfield and brownfield S/4HANA transformation programs.
• Collaborate with functional teams across:
• MM
• SD
• PP
• QM
• PM
• FI/CO
• Ensure governance processes align with enterprise master data management strategies and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Provide architectural recommendations for future-state data governance and AI-enabled master data management capabilities.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead global delivery teams across onshore and offshore locations.
• Mentor MDG developers, technical consultants, and functional consultants.
• Engage senior stakeholders, business leaders, enterprise architects, and data governance councils.
• Conduct architecture reviews, design governance sessions, and solution quality assessments.
• Provide executive-level updates, risk assessments, and implementation recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of SAP experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on SAP MDG experience with strong focus on Material Master Governance.
• Minimum 2 full-cycle global SAP MDG-M implementations in an architectural or lead technical role.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale MDG-M solutions within S/4HANA transformation programs.
