What they need

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Satellite Database Systems Engineer based in Canada. Contribute to the development and reliability of satellite mission databases supporting advanced Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) communication systems. In this role, you will design, maintain, and validate critical telemetry and command databases that enable accurate satellite monitoring and mission control. Working closely with flight software, systems engineering, and mission operations teams, you will help ensure data integrity and operational readiness across the satellite lifecycle. Your expertise will support the integration of mission databases with ground systems and flight software, helping maintain dependable communications and spacecraft operations. This opportunity is suited to an experienced engineer with a strong background in satellite database systems and space mission environments. You will play an important role in supporting the successful deployment and operation of commercial or government satellite missions.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and update satellite telemetry and command databases used in mission operations.
  • Develop and manage Management Information Base (MIB) telemetry and command databases to support spacecraft monitoring, control, and operational activities.
  • Integrate satellite databases with mission control systems, satellite ground infrastructure, and flight software.
  • Validate database configurations and data structures to ensure accuracy, consistency, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, flight software, and mission operations teams throughout the development, integration, and deployment lifecycle.
  • Conduct database testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, database configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Support the development, integration, and ongoing operation of LEO and MEO satellite communication constellations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of satellite database management practices and mission support processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in satellite database systems, spacecraft operations, or a closely related engineering field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with MIB telemetry and command databases in satellite mission operations environments.
  • Familiarity with satellite telemetry ground systems, mission control software, and flight software integration.
  • Experience supporting satellite database development for LEO and/or MEO communication constellations.
  • Strong understanding of satellite mission operations, telemetry processing, command database management, and spacecraft data workflows.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues and maintain data accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience supporting commercial or government satellite missions, integrating satellite ground systems with mission control platforms, and applying systems engineering processes within space programs.
  • Security eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain or already hold the required Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance.
  • Work eligibility and location: Remote opportunities are available to U.S. and Canadian citizens. European and UK candidates may be considered with relocation assistance and a relocation bonus. H-1B visa holders are welcome to apply, subject to applicable work authorization and security requirements.

Benefits

  • Compensation: To be determined based on skills and experience.
  • Employment type: Full-time position.
  • Remote work: Remote opportunity for eligible U.S. and Canadian citizens.
  • Relocation assistance: Relocation allowance and bonus available for eligible candidates relocating from Europe and the United Kingdom.
  • Immediate start: The position is available to begin as soon as possible.
  • Technical impact: Opportunity to contribute to satellite database systems supporting advanced LEO and MEO communication missions.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work alongside specialists in flight software, systems engineering, ground systems, and mission operations.
