Wasatch Covers is hiring a Saw Operator to cut and prepare metal and polycarbonate parts for custom-fabricated products. This is a hands-on production role where accuracy matters. The right person can work safely, read measurements correctly, and consistently produce clean parts within specified tolerances.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate band saws and chop saws to cut material according to cut lists, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Use a drill press and belt sander to drill, deburr, shape, and finish parts.
  • Safely use handheld power tools, including drills and grinders.
  • Measure and mark material using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools.
  • Check completed parts for correct dimensions, cut quality, and finish.
  • Meet specified tolerances of [insert typical tolerance].
  • Select appropriate blades, bits, and tooling for the assigned material.
  • Report incorrect dimensions, damaged material, and equipment problems.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and the work area clean and organized.
  • Assist with material handling and related shop work as production needs require.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately, including fractional-inch measurements.
  • Experience using saws, drill presses, sanders, and handheld power tools.
  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic shop math.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to verify work before sending parts forward.
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.

Previous fabrication or manufacturing experience is preferred. We will consider candidates with strong mechanical ability and relevant construction or shop experience.

Physical and Work Requirements

This position requires standing for shifts of up to 10 hours and regularly bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting. Employees must be able to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds safely. The shop environment includes operating machinery, noise, dust, metal debris, and temperature changes.

What We Offer

  • Four-day workweek with every Friday off
  • Consistent full-time hours
  • Hands-on work producing custom products
  • Small-team environment with direct communication
