Saw Operator / Material Handler – Metal Fabrication Shop

Job Summary

Join our team as a Saw Operator / Material Handler and play a key role in keeping our fabrication and machining workflow moving. You’ll be responsible for unloading steel deliveries, cutting material to size, staging jobs for the next process, and helping maintain an efficient, organized shop. When work is slow at the saw, you may assist with general labor tasks or make occasional deliveries in a pickup truck.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, wants to learn multiple parts of a shop environment, and is looking for long‑term growth into fabrication or CNC machining.

-1st Shift (6:00am to 4:30pm M-F, Saturdays when work dictates 6:00am-12:00pm) May be Flexible on hours for start time

-Paid 15 minute break

-30 minute lunch break

Duties

• Operate horizontal band saws to cut steel, aluminum, and stainless to required lengths
• Read and interpret basic prints, cut lists, and tape‑measure dimensions
• Unload steel trucks and move material using overhead crane or Hilo (training available)
• Stage material for fabrication or CNC machining based on job travelers
• Maintain saw area cleanliness, organization, and basic preventative maintenance
• Safely handle and store raw material, drops, and remnants
• Assist with general labor tasks when needed (shop cleanup, deburring, simple prep work)
• Make occasional deliveries in a pickup truck when saw workload is light
• Communicate clearly with team members to keep jobs flowing efficiently

Qualifications

• Ability to read a tape measure accurately (required)
• Positive attitude, reliability, and punctuality
• Overhead crane and Hilo experience (preferred, but we can train)
• Machine shop, fabrication, or saw‑cutting experience is a plus
• Ability to lift and move material as needed
• Basic print‑reading skills or willingness to learn
• Valid driver’s license for occasional deliveries
• Strong work ethic and willingness to help wherever needed

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
