Sawmill Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sawmill Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating sawmill machinery, ensuring the efficient processing of timber, and maintaining a safe working environment. Responsibilities

• Operate sawmill machinery safely and efficiently to process timber according to specified dimensions and quality standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Use hand tools and power tools for minor repairs, adjustments, or set-up tasks.
• Assist with loading and unloading timber, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Monitor production output, identify potential issues, and report any faults or safety concerns promptly.
• Support fabrication or assembly tasks related to timber processing as required.

Requirements

• Proven experience with mechanical systems, preferably within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, advantageous but not essential.
• Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling of timber or materials up to 40 pounds.
• Prior warehouse experience is desirable, demonstrating organisational skills and safety awareness.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow technical instructions accurately.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work shifts as required, with a focus on safety and efficiency in all tasks.

Pay: £13.46 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
