In this position...

Global Scheduling & Sequencing – Software Engineering Consultant Order-To-Delivery (OTD) is a global, cross-functional initiative focusing on the convergence and improvement of business processes, methods, IT Tools, and information standards required to enable Ford to operate as one global company.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer proficient in Angular/React and Spring Boot, with strong hands-on expertise in cloud-native development on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience designing, building, and deploying scalable, secure, end-to-end enterprise applications, with a strong command of container orchestration, CI/CD automation, and modern database technologies.

What you'll do...

  • End-to-End Software Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack components spanning UI (Angular/React), business logic (Spring Boot), data layers (PostgreSQL/SQL Server), and integration tiers.
  • Cloud-Native Engineering: Build, deploy, and manage scalable applications on GCP and GKE, ensuring high availability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Ownership: Develop and maintain automated build, test, and deployment pipelines using Tekton and related tooling to enable continuous delivery.
  • Product Collaboration & Prototyping: Partner with product managers to understand functional requirements and use cases, and build prototypes to validate solution design.
  • Agile Team Engagement: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and collaborate closely with Product Owners and cross-functional teams.
  • API Development & Integration: Design and implement robust, secure RESTful APIs and integrate with internal/external systems.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Write automated unit, integration, and functional tests to validate acceptance criteria and ensure adherence to security and quality standards.
  • Feature Release Management: Utilize feature flags and progressive rollout strategies to enable safe deployments and rapid rollback capabilities.
  • Operational Support: Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system performance meets defined SLAs/CSF targets.
  • Technical Leadership & Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies, propose improvements to architecture and tooling, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Communication: Clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through written and verbal communication.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Min of 5 years in software development required.

Programming Languages & Frameworks

  • Strong proficiency in Java 17+, with a solid understanding of modern design patterns and anti-patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, including security features, RESTful API development, and microservices architecture.
  • Strong front-end development experience with Angular and/or React, including component-based architecture, state management, and responsive UI design.

Cloud & Container Orchestration

  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (Compute, Storage, IAM, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, etc.).
  • Proven experience deploying, scaling, and managing containerized workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native design principles, service mesh, and container orchestration best practices.

CI/CD & DevOps

  • Demonstrated experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Tekton.
  • Proficiency with source control management using Git and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions and Gradle/Maven build systems.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and code quality/security scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, FOSSA, or similar).

Database Management

  • Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience integrating relational databases within Spring Boot applications for CRUD operations and transactional workflows.
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases is a plus.

Development Methodologies

  • Practical experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Strong adherence to Software Craftsmanship principles (clean code, refactoring, code reviews).
  • Proven experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with API gateway solutions (e.g., Apigee) and enterprise security frameworks.

  • Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver).

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for GKE deployments.
